The 18th Pink Ball was successfully hosted by the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry (the "Registry") on October 26, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. This year’s theme, “Transformation,” symbolizes the support and growth that hereditary cancer patients undergo, with the help of family, friends, and the Registry. The evening honored their resilience and celebrated the beautiful transformation of life through recovery.
This year, we were especially honored to have Professor Chung-Mau Lo, Secretary for Health, as our guest of honor. In his address, Professor Lo highlighted the profound meaning of “Transformation.” He praised the Registry's invaluable contributions in supporting hereditary cancer patients and their families, providing free genetic testing, and raising public awareness about hereditary cancer. The Registry’s valuable data has significantly contributed to government policymaking in cancer control.
In line with the theme of Transformation, the Registry presented a series of heartfelt performances. The evening opened with a lively K-pop dance performed by 19 children, symbolizing the vitality and hope of the next generation. Following this, a group of young mothers, known as the “Pink Revolution” dance troupe, took the stage to perform an energetic piece to support the fight against cancer, symbolizing resilience and strength through all stages of life.
We also featured a special international performance by renowned dancers Konstantin Gorodilov and Polina Figurenko, adding a touch of global artistic flair to the evening. For the first time, the Registry invited famous Latin dance champions from mainland China, Tang Yi Ming and Huang Xinyi, who are recognized for their numerous awards and achievements both nationally and internationally.
The Registry also shares an inspiring story from breast cancer survivor Belinda, who expressed her gratitude to the Registry for supporting her path to recovery. Through a touching video, she encouraged others to face the illness with positivity and courage. Belinda volunteered at the event, personally demonstrating the Registry’s commitment to love and support.
